Region 11 Candy Gourlay Many Filipino Authors wrote many notable works and published books that make Philippines more popular about talented literature authors. One of this authors that is popular about their outstanding works is Candy Gourlay that came from Region 11. Candy Gourlay is a Filipino Author that is based in United Kingdom but she was born and raised in Davao, Philippines. She played a significant role in our history especially in the overthrow of 21 year regime of Filipino Dictator, Ferdinand Marcos. From 1984 to 1989, she served and worked as a journalist, notably as a staffwriter in the Philippines. She become popular by her works that inspired many Filipino and even people in other countries that is reading her works. She writes about dismantling the walls and boundaries between people because she has chosen to scale them, push on them, and break them down for herself. This feature article proudly presents Virgilio Almario... Mr. Virgilio Almario or also known as Rio Alma is a well-known and successful literary historian, critic and a poet writer. He is also responsible for reviving and reinventing traditional Filipino poetic forms, and he even championed modern poetics. In a massive time span of 34 years, he has published 12 books of poetry, which include the seminal ‘Makinasyon’ and ‘Pegrinasyon’, and the landmark trilogy ‘Doktrinang Anakpawis’,’ Mga Retrato at Rekwerdo’ and ‘Muli, Sa Kandungan ng Lupa’ Many Filipino writers have come under his wing in the literary workshops he founded – The Galian sa Arte at Tula (GAT) and many more.
